Yay! There were more than 5,000 attendees at the NAMI Walks Northwest- 13th Annual Walk Event on Sunday, May 17th. Team members were assigned a team captain and were sponsored to walk. People who donated a certain amount received a ‘Walk- 2015 NAMI Walks ‘ T-shirt, and also walked. One didn’t need to be on a team to walk, he or she just needed to register for the walk. The event was free, but everyone registered and walked.
Congratulations everyone and thank you for making a statement that mental health and our lives matter. It was a beautiful day for a walk. After working at the registration table, I took a stroll and viewed the reflections of the city of Portland in the calm Willamette River near the Vera Katz Esplanade.
