Tools Keynote Speaker Schizoaffective
Tuesday, I became a headline keynote speaker at the NAMI Lane County holiday dinner and had the wonderful opportunity to speak to an audience that was uplifting, motivational, and positive. It was so nice to meet such great and genuine people. I am the author of Sherry Goes Sane, and a mental health advocate for people struggling with mental illness. I work with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). I was diagnosed with paranoia schizophrenia, then bipolar, which now creates a mental condition called schizoaffective disorder with psychosis going on all the time. It is so important to take care of our illnesses during the holiday season when routines turn upside down and the Holiday atmosphere is so commercialized. That’s why I paint and write. Both arts I cannot live without. Painting has taken me farther than I could imagine in life, so has my journaling. My medication, therapy, and doctors help me to relieve the stress that comes with my condition and keeps me stable and able to cope. Hope you are enjoying your art whatever it may be and may you receive satisfaction and peace as you work through the stresses of the season.
