Sherry Joiner Interview with Bp Magazine

I love talking about the differences between schizo affective disorder and bipolar disorder.  Here is my latest interview on the topic from bestselling mental health writer Julie A. Fast, the author of Loving Someone with Bipolar Disorder and Take Charge of Bipolar Disorder. Here is the first paragraph of the interview. There is then a link to the full post on the Bp Magazine blog.

Part One. Sherry Goes Sane: What is Schizo-Affective Disorder?

An Interview with author and painter, Sherry Joiner by Julie A. Fast

Sherry and I met at a writer’s meeting many years ago. She told me she wanted to write a book about living with schizoaffective disorder. Years later I spoke at a bipolar disorder support group. I looked up and there she was. She said, “Guess what Julie! I wrote my book!”   We are now close friends. I asked her about the differences between schizo affective disorder and bipolar disorder in part one of our interview.

Sherry: I have the symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia and the symptoms of bipolar disorder at the same time. I have extreme paranoia- hallucinations, grandeur delusions, thinking my dreams are real and a lack of concentration. With the bipolar, I have up and down mood swings, especially deep depression.

  1. Hi Sherry, I am going to order your book, as I’ve heard good things. I also have schizo-affective disorder, so I can totally empathise. I’ve just finished writing a little memoir too. Its lovely to see your beautiful artwork, and all the good work you are doing with regards to mental health.
